Symptoms


When you attempt to install iTunes for Windows, you receive the following error message:


There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A DLL required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

Resolution


Apply the procedure from the Resolution section of the following user tip:


"The administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" error messages when installing iTunes for Windows on Windows Vista and Windows 7 systems


Note: Two similar error messages during iTunes for Windows installs require a different resolution


If you receive either of the following two very-similar error messages:


There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.

There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
