RME fireface 400

Hello everyone_

I want as good a sound as I can afford , and so I'm thinking of getting the Fireface 400. I'm Currently using the M-audio firewire solo. My question is: Will
getting the Fireface really improve things alot? A $1,000 dollars is too much for me to spend unless the improvement is dramatic.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to give me feedback. I'm a Computer tech by trade so maybe I can help someone with Computer hardware questions sometime . Although most of you seem to be pretty savy on all fronts already. Right now my monitors are Alesis M1Active520. They seem pretty good for the price, although I know they're not even close to the high end. I'm using the RODE NT4-1 for my mic. Again I know I can do alot better here also. Re: mindprint optical, this is an interesting idea but after I saw what it looked like I know it would drive me insane ( it's a short trip anyway) looking at that thing all the time. LOL ugly red and weird shape. But thanks
for the suggestion John. 2 years ago when I started recording my songs with Logic I was very pleased with the sound I was getting, but that fantasy vanished very quickly, now the sound is never quite good enough. The curse
of almost knowing what I'm doing is upon me now and I can't seem to shake it. LOL

Thanks again for all the help guys
