Can you recover keystrokes?

I lost a lot of text that I need to get back because my computer crashed, I didn't have a keystroke logger installed or anything, but is there some way to find a log of what you've recently typed anyway? Or is there a program that will recover what you've recently typed?

Nope. I mean, I answer with a certainty because could you imagine the amount of trouble an OS writer would get into if they logged recent keystrokes w/o telling the user. That is a key logger by definition and it would be huge security risk because anyone could read that file and find any number of things. So I'm sorry, if you didn't have a key logger installed you are out of luck. I recommend saving early and often in the future verses finding a keylogger for those annoying crashes.

PixelatedPerson,

It depends on which application you wrote your text in. Were you working with an existing file or did you (or did you not) click 'save as' and give your document a name? Appleworks creates a backup of documents created and so does Microsoft Word. Other applications make backups of files. Which application were you using?
