10.4.10 Snap Crackle Pop

Just updated to 10.4.10 and now my mini entertains me with random popping noises from the speakers, just as if the audio port was turning itself off and on in minute intervals. Drives me bonkers.

RC-R,

People like you make me laugh. If you were experiencing the problem as described you would be on the bandwagon with the rest of us who are. But since your not, you have chosen to sit on the sidelines and try and diminish the issue. Do you hang out at your local hospital and tell the sick people that it's their own fault they are in there?

Lastly, DON'T make assumptions that all of us with this problem are computer illiterate morons. I don't appreciate your arrogance on this issue and I think you would be surprised if you knew the level of expertise of some of us on this forum. Now, since you are not experiencing this issue, and you have nothing useful to add, why don't you waste your time elsewhere.

I can confirm this. My macbook has similar problems.
E.G.:
1. When selecting a song in iTunes to play it, shortly before it begins there is a little pop sound which sounds like the sound device is being turned on. After done playing the song, there is again a little pop sound which sounds like the sound device is being turned off.
2. EyeTV when muting a TV stream there is the same sound as in iTunes.

All sounds are not bothering, BUT they are noticeable and a bit strange. Again, they only appear before and after playing a sound.

People have done clean installs of OS X with .10 and are getting the pop, and clean installs of .9 and not getting it. I fail to see how that is not comprehensive enough proof? Unless you are going to claim it's a hardware fault, it's clearly not a software fault, other than the 10.4.10 update.

If you read the thread, it's happening to MacBooks (Pros) old and new CD, C2D, Minis old and new, iMacs CD, C2D and even the odd Mac Pro - 2006/2007 models. There are people from all four corners of the planet here, moaning, so that wipes the geographical claim.

The shear breadth of the complaint points to the common cause being 10.4.10 and an Intel machine. The dispute is over, and I'm waiting for a patch.
