is there a way to view contents of an OMF file?

I'm trying to import an OMF file but it seems like it won't import, so I'm hoping to dig out some of its contents.

Can anyone help?

thanks, maybe I just need to be more patient. It's aobut 82 megs.

I'm running 10.4.9. I think the OMF is from FCP, but I don't know. I'm doing a quick sound design job. It's only my third (sound design) job and only the second time I've imported an OMF.

I get the progress bar that says "importing media" or something like that, but it doesn't appear to be making any progress.

I'm going to try to import before bed in case it's just going to take a long time. In the meantime, I'm working off of a quicktime and some music that has since been replaced.

82 mb is nothing for an OMF, you probably need to check with the FCP editor and re-export the OMF...

In FCP you have to un-check the cross-fades box and use OMF 2...

at least it was like that, I haven't exploded OMF for a while and I am on PPC, 7.1.1 with .v 5 of FCP and that used to be the way to go....

you should search this topic here to get the up to date info

I think it must have been a user error. I tried again and immediately saw that behind the progress window was a window prompting me to set the destination for the media. I don't know why I didn't see that before. Maybe my window arrangement obscurred it, but at any rate, the OMF imported fine. I think my question brought out some really good background anyway, so thanks to all!
