I bought it a blue/white XtremeMac Turf Wrap silicon Accent Case and I slipped it on. A few hours or so, I slipped it off and I noticed a long, vertical scratch on the metal side of my iPod. I think that while slipping it off, that it could've scratched it. I don't know....does silicon really scratch iPods metal surfaces?
No, silicon won't scratch it.
However, if there is dirt/sand on the iPod or in the case when you put it on (or gets in the case after it's on), it can scratch it.
I find the silicon case completely scuffed up the back of my iPod video (to the point of almost wearing the Apple logo off).
For big, deep scratches, it's usually dirt, but I find that the way the material is in general seems to scuff the iPods when taking the unit in and out of the case.
