HUZZAAAHHH!!!!! As of 12:50 CDT today my iPhone was activated! Get on the 3701 line and bide your time, it will pay off in the end. This concludes an almost 42 hour activation period. Amazing. I am duly impressed with the iPhone but somewhat disgusted with AT&T. Most of all I would like to thank everyone who has been posting here. You all have helped me through this and I hope I can return the favor. Good luck everybody! Believe it or not, the wait is worth it.
Cheers!

***PLEASE HELP ***

I FINALLY got the "ACTIVATION COMPLETE" email after 45 hours of waiting, but my phone still will not activate. Here's what the email says:

Congratulations, AT&T has successfully activated your iPhone service.
If you have not done so already, please connect your iPhone to your computer now to complete this activation (or click here if your iPhone is already connected).

I have my phone connected, but nothing. I click on the "Click Here" link, but it does nothing. It's almost like there isn't a link there. I took my iPhone out of the docking station and completely shut down. Rebooted...followed the steps again...still nothing.

iTunes still says "Your activation requires additional time to complete".

HELP, PLEASE HELP if you have dealt with this as well. I don't think I can take any more of this...

Thank you!

I called the 3701 line. Was on hold 16 minutes. Guy answered; asked for order number, he put me on hold 6 minutes. Came back on and said the problem had to do with my previous plan I was replacing one phone with an iphone. (But this is the latest FamilyTalk plan, but I had 4 phones added at 9.99 each.) He said he would have it cleared-up and activated within 5 or 10 minutes; and that I could wait on the phone during that time to make sure if I wanted to.

Last night, ATT said it was the fault of Apple's iTunes registration process; Apple commiserated with me but said it was ATT's fault, but to keep the iphone connected to iTunes and call back after 2 hours if not activated. It wasn't; I did; they were closed!!!!! Then called ATT again at the Emergency # they gave; that lady looked over my account and said everything was fine and I'd have to wait.

Poor, customer service to be sure...but keep calling is good advice, you'll eventually get someone that can help you. If you don't call, you'll just keep waiting unnecessarily.

He came back on; said I should get another email in 30-seconds; I already had; said there was a link in the email I could click, and viola! it is now activated!!!!

Round Two.

After getting some help at the 3701 number, I was instructed to call the Care Center (800 331 0500) to "turn on a feature" which only Business Account people could access.

But I got another e-mail from ATT as I hung up. This one said that my current rate plan was not compatible with the iPhone, and to call 877 419 4500. Another 45 minutes on hold, and I spoke with someone who changed my account from one with an employee discount to Template Contract - Do Not Modify -- at least that's what it says on the account page at ATT.

I was told that everything was now good to go, and that I should expect the final e-mail shortly. I asked whether "shortly" meant minutes or hours, and -- after a short pause -- was told "hours."

I was also told not to disconnect the iPhone from my computer, as this could disrupt the activation process. Finally, I was told that I would be unable to use my old cell phone which, of course, has been kaput since Friday.

That was three hours ago.

In ten minutes, I'll hit my 44th hour of waiting.
