Can't receive SMS (text) messages

In Utah as well, and having the same problem. Can send text messages, but cannot receive them. Could it be a AT&T in Utah problem. AT&T keeps sending me to Apple...GRRRR!

Same problem here in Portland, OR. Can send text messages, but can't receive them... at least not from a Verizon phone.

Until the porting process is complete you will not be able to send text messages from the iPhone.

i can send text to any network, i can receive texts from only att customers. both apple and att have there heads up their ***** and dont know what deal is

I'm having this same problem and my number is brand new not ported from any carrier. Help!!!

This is NORMAL during the transfer of numbers... it happened when I first took my number from T-Mobile to Verizon 2+ years ago... but the total transfer was quicker then because they didn't have hundreds of thousands of transfer requests happening simultaneously. Be reasonable and realistic people! This technology was barely imaginable a decade ago!

I cant seem to send or receive text messages either, and i was an AT&T customer before hand. This is also affecting my gf's phone, and it's a normal razr. I'm wondering if AT&T's network is having problems?

I can't seem to login to the AT&T website either to check on my account, I'm getting system errors.

Just wanted to add my two cents:

I have a new number, no porting and I have not been able to receive any text messages either. Sending them is no problem...anyone know what is going on?

new number here too-no porting. still can't receive text msgs from a verizon (and probably other providers') phone

I spent awhile on the phone with At&T today...they said everything looked fine on their end, and said I should be able to receive text messages from anyone. I still have not gotten any! I even went so far as to reset/restore the phone, hoping that would help, but still no text messages. I will wait a few more days for the network to "catch up" but after that, this baby is going back to the store!

I figured it was just the number-transfer issue (coming from t-mo), but I got the text this morning saying the transfer was complete...

I can make/receive calls, and I can send texts... I think they're going through... but a few ppl (on verizon) tell me they responded, and I didn't get anything. I DO get texts from one friend- not sure what network. And then another friend (on t-mobile) just sent me one- and it went to my old t-mo phone.

this is important...
Are all my messages lost, or am I going to get a hundred messages all at once when the bottleneck is relieved?

I have the same issue. I did not port. Everyone getting them from me no problem..none coming back though...

I've been in contact with a Tier 2 tech. at Apple the last few days. He's been very helpful, but the issue is still unresolved. He indicated that it is an AT&T issue and that they are aware of it. Beyond that, I've had the iPhone for 6 days now and still am unable to receive a text. Stay tuned, I guess??

During activation, apparently AT&T's system mistakenly linked my iPhone to the 'Legacy' system, which caused problems with receiving texts from outside carriers. An AT&T tech fixed this issue and now my SMS texting works fine.

I recommend calling AT&T and explaining this to them. Apparently, the 'fix' takes up to 24 hours to be functional, but it worked for me in about 12.
