Music stops playing while browsing web

I've now seen this issue happen twice on my iPhone this morning - I'm listening to an album (Daughtry) and browsing the web (the Motley Fool) at the same time. Suddenly, the iPhone stops playing the music after about 10 minutes - in the middle of a song. I'm not sure if there is a setting somewhere that I'm unaware of, or if this is a bug. Both times seem to have close to when I single tapped on the screen while in Safari - but did not hit a link. Anyone else see anything similar?

Best Regards,

Jeff

I went to a basball game yesterday and filled my 8GB phone with pics, then on the train back was listening to a 1:08:00 techno mix then tried flipping through Safari and got the iPod to quit often. I was also able to get iPod to quit during coverflow and even just flipping through the long legal page and then used a regular song from moulin rouge and it still managed to quit. So I thought it was a problem with lack of space. I sunk my phone, took the pics off, and took off a bunch of unwanted songs. Tried again, and was able to get it to quit again. Tried a long song and a short song, and was able to get the iPod to quit both times, and this is with 1+GB available. Lastly, during the day today, I started getting the phone app to quit when music wasn't playing. I restarted (held down both sleep and home for 10 sec) and got the apple logo boot up, and after that, it's been running smoothly. I was almost ready to take it in because I was able to get it to quit on demand basically. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

me too: Listening to music and then browsing frequently, though not always causes the iPhone to stop playing music.

Will occasionally happen when just listening to music. My gym has Wifi and the audio just dropped out three or four times in a ten minute period earlier this week. My guess is that it's the fault of the Mail program checking for updates over Wifi.

Hard reset (hold down the power key and the home button for about ten seconds, ignore the red swipe icon to turn back on and wait until the silver Apple logo appears) seems to fix it ... until it freezes up again.

Got to be a software glitch.

This has also happened to me numerous times. Very difficult to pinpoint exactly the cause. Always in browser while listening to music. The hard reset of the iPhone does the trick to solve the problem but of course that is a temporary fix. I am sure apple is aware of this. I agree with the recommendation from another poster to sync with iTunes often. That will provide useful feedback to those at apple to fix the bugs.... Regardless of some bugs I am totally impressed with this crackberry killer! I am going to need some AA (Appleholics Anonymous) LOL

I have had this happen a few times, there is a bug that maybe is related to losing and switching from wifi to edge. This has only happened to me at home on WIFI.You can also see that the WIFI will pull ip addresses from Edge.Power cycling the iphone or any sim card phone everyday is recommended by AT&T. It not only keeps the phone connecting at maximum signal it helps with this minor(glitch).I also noticed Safari will close on certain search links that seem to confuse the cool rolodex app from coming up.

Mines the exact same. I can kill it within 30 seconds if I go to any other app. The exceptions seem to be SMS and Google Maps, as long as its already loaded whatever it wants to. As soon as it has to load data, iPod quits.

I can't imagine this not getting caught in beta testing, so I also agree the new iTunes update had to have caused it. Hopefully we'll get an update soon.

I experienced this problem as well. It did not happen from the start. The only thing I can think of that triggered it was accidently unplugging it from the computer before hitting eject in itunes. I was not in the middle of a sync, but i still should have hit eject. Maybe this was the cause maybe not, but the problem never happened until 30 seconds after this happened. Powering off seemed to fix the problem (for now).
just my 2 cents.

for what it's worth, this problem also happens to me everytime i've tried browsing and listening to music at the same time. i'm usually using wifi to browse at home, and i've never heard a complete song play in the background for more than 2-3 min. hope by posting apple will recognize the problem. annoying but i realize this is v.1 and there's going to have to be a os service update soon once they get some field reports.

i do have to say that despite the fact safari/ipod app seem to crash quite a bit still, the system itself is pretty solid for a phone. my blackberry often required me to take the battery out to reset when an application that was running killed the os, but the iphone seems very stable. just dumps back to the home screen and keeps running like normal. never had anything worse than that.
