What is the E in the top left corner mean?

What is the E in the top left corner mean?

Hey all, Just wondering if anyone else had the E at the top left of the screen beside AT&T....If anyone could help, I am no sure what it is and means.

that is to tell you that you are currently using AT&T's EDGE data connection for internet instead of wifi.
