iPhone volume is too low

I think I have pretty good hearing, but the iPhones volume seems very low for calls, ringer, email alerts etc..

Sigh...

Add me to this list as well. Volume too low on calls using both speakerphone and receiver. I sent feedback to Apple concerning this issue, and so far no fix. I hope it can be fixed via some kind of software update but it seems more of a hardware issue to me.

I've also experienced problems playing music while surfing via Safari. The music usually stops after about 2 minutes or so.

It seems to me that this would be somewhat of an embarrasing issue for Apple being that the iPhone launch was so successful. It is kind of embarrasing to me when I have friends who have $30.00 pay as you go phones with higher ring volumes and better ring tones than my $600.00 phone. Go figure.

The ring tone volume problem I agree is horrible. But I find it laughable that you think there are better ring tones out there? Who cares about ringtones. Most are as annoying as can be. If you are embarrassed by the lack of preferred ring tones, then you have more issues then your iPhone.

I have no more issues than you do. If you don't care about such "trivial" things as ringtones, then that's your business. Don't propose to tell me or someone else what's important or not in a product that they spend $600.00 for.

Seriously? Plastic? It's shocking to me how much play this theory is getting. Is the average iPhone customer really this stupid? You mean if I cover the speaker... With plastic... I can't hear through the speaker as well? F'ing brilliant!

"That plastic does a great job of cutting down the sound coming out of the earpiece."

Really? Thats kinda like when the buttons on my iPhone didn't work when I first got it. Then I realized I was tapping on the iPhone box and not the iPhone... God did I feel dumb. I packed that box around for 2 days trying to make it work. I thought about complaining about the size of the iPhone because it looked smaller on TV, and it was a little papery for my tastes... But then someone with a brain helped me out and opened the box for me, revealing the actual iPhone.

Well I gotta go... I broke the cup holder on my computer and need to call support. Does anyone have the number for 911?

I too have too low of a volume for both the earpiece and speaker. Music/movie/podcast volumes are all fine. Calls are too low.

I've written to apple and read every post on several message boards about this problem. I'm hesitant to try to get a replacement phone as all other aspects of the phone are fine and i don't want to get a new phone that could have other issues.

I'm patiently waiting for a software/firmware fix, getting excited with each of the first 2 patches only to be disappointed. I think i'll wait a few more months and see what happens with future updates, and if not fix then i will ask for a replacement.

As I have said, along with so many more here on this forum, the receiver volume on the iPhones is terrible!

"Play" Oh, I just love that word too. This is a great toy and after $800.00 (iPhone plus BT) that I have spent. I still cannot use this as a real phone, but yes I like playing with it, no I did not play with it the day it came out and even if I would have, I would have thought that the low volume was a bug that was going to get fixed soon. I was wrong.

Not to worry, I have adjusted and will live with it the way it is. Just doesn’t work as a real phone should. My opinion of course!
