When using the iPhone headset OR the speaker while on a voice call, the volume is very very quiet. Anyone else experiencing this? If I use the iPod or YouTube, the volume is adequate at its highest setting. So clearly the speaker is capable of getting louder, why is it so muted for voice calls?
Not sure if this has been tried or not, but the volume buttons on the side effect different volumes at different times. I had to call my house phone and use the buttons during the call to adjust call volume. Every other time I used the buttons, it messed with the speaker volume.
I had the same problems with the volume on my iphone until i realize that i had the protective plastic covering the earpiece. That definitely makes things better
the volume on mine is equally horrible. but it's definitely phone related, not ipod related. the volume from the little speaker is actually pretty impresssive. but from the earspeaker, or from the speaker phone, it's misearably low volume. i even had a coworker today complain that the speaker phone had a lot of echo, so we had to swithc to another phone. (not a great start for a $600 phone).
my question, is this fixable with a software update, or is it hardware realted (i.e. the maximum output of the earside speaker)? it would make sense that it's just a matter of software fixes, since the volume is bad for the telephoning funtions of both the earside speaker towards the top of the phone AND the speakerphone speaker at the bottom of the phone, but NOT for other non-phone output for the same bottom-side speaker.
anyone have any ideas? this needs to get fixed FAST. if you can't hear incomming iCalls on your new iPhone, then it's not really much iFun...
