Dock magnification problem

I have my Dock set to magnify the icons when the mouse rolls over them. Problem is, it eventually stops working, and just won't magnify until I restart my Mac. The settings do not change - they remain with the same magnification setting: "On", and about "70%".

I'm not sure how to fix this or why it is even doing this. I already tried deleting that one file: "com.apple.dock.plist", and it didn't help.

Is anyone sure on what I should do? My dock is really messing up. First off, like I said before, it will sometimes stop magnifying the items in the dock, then sometimes (like it is currently doing), it will partly magnify an item and just freeze it at that size. For example: right now, my trash can is magnified and my cursor isn't even over it.

Had the same problem, dock wouldnt magnify anymore. Restarted, and it was fine again, then yesterday a restart didnt help anymore. Tried all kinda things with the dock app, nothing helped. I noticed my mouse cursor was acting strange too, not changing in a "text" cursor when I hovered or selected text, not changing in a hand when hovering links, etc. I plugged my mouse out, and plugged it back in, and boom, everything was working flawlessly.

My husband and I have two new MacBookPros on 9/1/07, identical, and both have dock magnification problems. We'll be working and suddenly the dock becomes huge, like a million times larger, and great shadows appear to move over our screens, then it freezes, we have to force quit at power button. Happens all the time when we have magnification on small, med or large. We've got about 20 apps down on the dock, we've taken some off, thinking 20 was too many. What's is going on

It seems that the problem is indeed connected (so to say :D) with my Logitech MX Revolution Mouse (which also seemed to produce some kernel panics at reboot!).

It's a great mouse, but Logitech drivers are worthless. Also Mac OS X should not
act so bad just because of a cordless mouse.

Anyway: reconnecting the mouse solved the problem for me.
