Voicemail Password

So this visual voicemail thing is cool but I'm having an issue with it and hopefully someone can help?! When i go to the voicemail button on the bottom right of the "phone" mode, it doesnt prompt me to enter a password! this can mean anyone can listen to my voicemail at any time if they have my phone. Does anyone's iPhone ask them to put in a password each time they touch "voicemail"? Is there a way i can make it do this? Any help please

My iPhone says I must create a password before the voicemail feature will work. Nowhere in the iPhone Users Guide does it give the parameters however, so that when I try to create a password, nothing happens. What is the minimum number of characters, are mixed numbers and letters required, in the password setup screen, how do I know whether the 2, a, b, or c is used?

This is a security issue with any phone using AT&T's voicemail. AT&T's voicemail, by default, relies on caller ID to "verify" your identity.

You need to dial into your AT&T voicemail account, and set it use password protection. This article explains the issue and (at the bottom) tells you how to enable password protection:

Straight from the manual - They will have that feature later I am sure.

A voice mail password helps prevent others from access your voice mail. You only need to enter the password when you’re calling in to get your messages from another
phone. You won’t need to enter the password when using Voice mail on iPhone. Change the voice mail password
m From the Home screen choose Settings > Phone > Change Voice mail Password.

Look for the future, updates and functionality will be added.

I set mine up by calling my voicemail and going to administrative options/password options.

I believe the password is 4 characters numeric but I guess they coould also be alpha. For example...it may be easier to remember my password as BRAD. On the keypad this would translate to 2723. If the password was 2345, this could be either A,D,G,J or B, F, H, L.

This may be all wrong but this is how its working for me.

Good Luck
