InCase rubber case review

Just picked up a black InCase from the Apple store today (TN563LL/A).

I am very pleased with it. I thought that since it was rubber it would be kinda sticky feeling (perhaps I'm comparing it with the silicone ones) and grab lint like no tomorrow. It's not bad on the lint thing - and it's been laying on my fuzzy blanket. It seems to remove any lint with a wipe with a lint-free cloth.

I'm especially pleased with the fit. It has holes for the headphone jack, the USB connector (won't fit in a dock without being removed), the speaker and mic, camera, and the silence slider, but the volume and on/off/sleep buttons are covered. I prefer the fact it doesn't try to cover the glass at all. It doesn't interfere with use at all, or any of the sensors. I'm much less worried about the glass than the chrome and the backing at this point (from the stress tests we've seen), and this 1mm or so of lift should help if it lands face down so it doesn't hit grit on the ground (though I splatted mine on the garage floor the other day with no damage).

I'm testing the heat retention right now. I didn't have any problems with music, so I'm running a movie now.

It will definitely keep it from sliding, and other than being harder to slide in and out it still fits in the side cell phone bag on my purse. Hopefully if I accidentally drop it on the corner it will take some of the shock, too.

No belt clip, but that's not the way I function.

My two cents. I'm still waiting for what Vaja has to come out with that's not magnetic, and I'm interested in possibly trying Lajo's Exo L with swivel clip so it acts both as a horizontal and vertical stand, but for now this is just about perfect for me.

My two cents,
Aym

I purchased an Incase rubber cover for my iphone on June 30th. I initially really liked it.

I HIGHLY recommend against purchasing this case as mine is starting to stretch out after a little over a month. Its stretched enough that the phone now can slip up and down in the case a few millimeters, which leads to scratches. I can tell that the case will be worthless in less than a month.

I hope Apple realizes it is a defective product and takes it off their website and out of their stores. $30 for a case that will last less than 2 months is a great way to anger customers.

I have been using the InCase for about a month now and I really like it. It has a real good grip. It protects the iPhone against minor drops. It protects the phone in my pocket. I have not seen the stretching that others have reported. Maybe this is because I do not charge on the doc. I just charge using the connector so I dont have to take the case off. I have not noted any problems of scratching. Sometimes the simplest case is the best case, and that is the case with the InCase.

I purchased the "Speck" Tough Skin Gel since I got the iPhone and it's awesome! It's black (matches with everything) and it protects the phone and helps to hold the phone with more confidence. (It also includes the belt clip..great since I can still place it on my hip, purse, etc and I don't have to remove the gel) It doesn't feel as vulnerable as it feels without the case. It's been over a month and it still looks and feels like the day I bought it. It was worth the $30 at the Apple Store!

I've noticed the stretching as well. If you do buy this case (and frankly, it's a fine case) then leave the iPhone in. I removed mine frequently for cleaning and the rubber has stretched.

I was looking at the Speck ToughSkin, but it looks a little too...knobby. I just ordered the iSkin Revo for the iPhone, which looks to have everything I want in a case except for a belt clip. I currently use the Contour iSee for the iPhone and I'd like to see what the Showcase for the iPhone will be like. I like clip-able cases as my phone is on vibrate most of the time and I often miss alerts/calls when it's in my pocket, but I also worry about knocking it off my hip somehow, or walking around with it out for all to see, screaming "Hey I'm a $500 phone, why not steal me?"

Is it just me or the iPhone causing people to seemingly collect cases? I've gone through three including the Crystal Jacket Set I returned.

I put on a protective film by Shieldzone.com after reading other reviews on this forum.

It seems to work great. It covers the entire phone, including the screen, and is just tacky enough I'm less afraid of dropping it.

On two of the corners it can be seen pretty easily, but on the rest of the phone, it's invisible. I suspect I could have done a better job of applying the film.

My concerns were that iPhone is a bit slippery in my hands, and I got the screen pretty messy with fingerprints. The shieldzone film takes care of both these issues.

It's no protection if I drop iPhone, but I'm waiting for a case I ordered from Vaja that will give me some protection from drops when I have iPhone on my belt.

If you guys are looking for a case the iskin revo is very nice. It fits well, the iphone is in tightly. Everything is covered, there is a flap that peals back that covers the headphone port when not in use and also the buttons on the outside but they are still very usable. The revo is worth the price and is my new fav case. The plastic piece that covers the screen I don't think I will use, but it could be good if you are putting your iphone in a bag or something to protect it from other items.

I too bought the "Speck" Tough Skin Gel. The only negative I had is the belt clip. I didn't find it very comfortable. It sticks into my side. Just a reminder that I need to drop a few pounds.

I just bought the iSkin Slims-Chill case. It's great for carrying my iPhone on my hip. I still use the Speck Tough Skin if I'm going to have my iPhone off my hip for a long period of time.
