Yahoo mail not sending emails

I have a yahoo mail account, and it appears that my messages are being sent when sending with my iphone, but the recipients aren't getting any of the emails. I see the status bar that the message is 'sending', and I hear the 'swoosh' sound as if it is going through, but I have yet to have anyone actually get my email. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Yeah, my Yahoo account is doing the same thing, and Yahoo's service has definitely been lacking recently. For about an hour this morning I couldn't even load Yahoo's homepage on my laptop. I think Yahoo is having some problems and hopefully this not sending emails thing is just a symptom of that. Let's hope its Yahoo's problem and not a problem with the email software on our iPhones!

I may have hopefully figured out my problem...in my mail settings, when I added my Yahoo email account, I entered my email address using some Caps...ex.. JohnSmith@yahoo.com I have since deleted my email account in my mail settings, and added a 'new' one, this time entering my email address using all lowercase letters.. ex. johnsmith@yahoo.com ...I have done nothing else to try and fix this problem, but my email works now. Every email I have sent has gone through ever since I changed my mail settings to an email address using NO caps. Doesn't seem this would make sense, maybe it is just a coincidence, but I'm now successfully sending messages using my iphone.

But now I'm having issues with the 'push' feature. Sometimes it works fine, and other times I'll have to actually go into my inbox, and click the 'refresh' button for the phone to check for new mail. Not sure why it works great at time, and other times I have to prompt it. Hopefully it's a yahoo issue, and not me. Any thoughts?

Are we able to use an alternate outgoing mail server
whilst benefiting from the push functionality?

My understanding was if you manually keyed the Yahoo
IMAP config as "Other..." in the iPhone, it is unable
to authenticate to pull mail because the encryption
mechanism is not offered up.

Your understanding is correct. You are not able to custom configure the account AND get push functionality.

It seems to be a Yahoo issue. Accounts that work for a while stop working. If you have done nothing to the account settings (not that there is much to do other than ?User ID and password), then it is likely a Yahoo issue.

Folks - here is the solution.

Log into Yahoo mail and send an email from the web interface. It will prompt you to enter some letters for spam protection. Do it. Now emails will send from your iPhone.

Here is the problem. The requirement to enter this spam thing seems to come back every now and again. I'm gong to start sending an email from the interface every morning to avoid this (Yahoo/Apple - PLEASE fix this.)

okay - i made a new yahoo id. when i send an email from the new id from the web interface i now get the spam thingy. this id works perfectly from my iphone. my original yahoo id does not work. clearly, there is a problem and it needs to be fixed on either yahoo or apple's end. how do i get this info to them?

thanks!

But the question then becomes: after you fill out that anti-spam verification thing (entering in the random letters and numbers) using the web version of Yahoo! mail, who long will that last/allow you to send emails from your iPhone before it degenerates into the original problem again of Yahoo! emails not being sent from the iPhone?

This is soooo frustrating! YAHOO! FIX THIS PROBLEM NOW!!!
