do you need an ipod to use itunes?

my older broter got an ipod for his birtday a while back and since then its being nonstop music, but we share a computer and itunes apers on my user space too. but i dosnt contain any of his music (its empty). i dont own a ipod myself, but i was wandering if you needed an ipod to acess the store and download things. any help?

No you don't need an iPod to use iTunes. You can use to to purchase music from the store and play it on your PC.

Unfortunately iTunes does not support any other players, but you could take a look at iTunes agent if you have another player.

You will not be able to play DRM protected music purchased from the store - that only works on an iPod.
