When I opened iTunes 7.3 for the first time, a window comes up that says updating iTunes library. It loads halfway then stops and the program freezes and stops responding. This hasn't happened for the past versions. How can I fix this? Thanks.
I've been having the same problem, Itunes downloade fine, I've even reinstalled a few times. Then it starts updating my library right away, gets about 3/4 through and freezes up. Can anyone help!?
My understanding is that there's a corrupt file in the library that's causing this problem--either a podcast or a video. You can search these forums for other threads on this subject.
From what I've read, you need to figure out which file is causing the hang and remove it (easier said than done).
One thing you can try is to pull all of the podcast and/or video files (you could try one or the other first, too.) out of your iTunes folder before you try to launch iTunes. Leave them on your desktop.
If iTunes launches successfully, then you can slowly try to add these files back to your iTunes folder to find out which one causes the hang.
Not ideal advice, I know. But it may be a way to get iTunes back up and running again.
