Certain movies are not showing up on my apple TV

i've ripped my whole library of more than 100 dvds and now i'm having the problem that certain movies are just not showing up on my apple tv. they do show up fine in itunes and in front row.

i've tried deleting them and then re-importing them, but nothing helped. i'm using itunes 7.3 and have "copy items to itunes library" turned off. all my files are sitting on two different external 1Tera drives.

Have you looked at the movie info for these movies to ensure all the specs fit the tv requirements. Are there any patterns to this behaviour (ie file size, from the same drive etc), have you checked permissions for these files.

I am also experiencing this problem. I am using a Vista computer that is up to date, running itunes 7.3.2.6. I have 75 movies ripped, all sit in the same folder on an external drive. All were ripped using the same program (Handbrake) with same encoding settings. All of them play in itunes. My Atv is set to stream but when I look at the movies in atv, only 65 show up.

I tried to use the "Convert selection for Apple TV" option on the movies that won't show up and was told that the file was already in the correct format. Permissions look fine. I can't think of any other reason why the atv can't see these files. I imported another movie last night and it showed up. ??

I had the same type of problem. I tried teh iTunes options of adding the folder to library and import - nothing happened after synhcing.

It was only when I did the Add File to Library that my video appeared in both iTunes and AppleTV (after synhcing that is....) Looks like a bug (and an annoying one)

Does anyone have anymore info on this issue?

I've noticed that some films are not showing no matter how I import...I believe I've tried everything short of clearing y entire iTunes library and added a single file....I rip all my movies the same way, so I cannot see what is different..I'd really like to see all my films in the list....

Have you tried the following:

1. Open itunes and select a troublesome tune/movie.
2. Choose file/show in Finder and note the location of the original file.
3. Delete the tune/movie from your itunes list (not in the finder) choose 'remove' and 'keep files' when prompted
4. Drag the original file from the Finder back to itunes.

The PC translation (since the guy is running XP) is to use Windows Explorer (rather than "Finder").

It sounds like a good troubleshooting tact. I'd also see if I could stream the movie instead of playing it as synced content (or at least see if it shows up when you change to stream).

No problem -- I wouldn't even know what to call Windows Explorer in Applespeak (I know because you said "Finder" and it reminded me, but I wouldn't have had a clue otherwise).

I really wish I could own a Mac but that's life...
