Power Surge on Hub Port

Hello everyone,

My friend got an ipod about a week ago. She plugged it in, it charged fine, and she transferred songs onto it fine. She ran the battery completely dry, and now when she tries to plug in her ipod to any computer, it comes up with an error message that says:

"A USB device has malfunctioned and exceeded the power limits of its hub port. You should disconnect the device."

Can anyone help me out here?

I always do not recommend to connect your iPod via USB Hub, does it work if it connecting with the USB port on the back of the computer

This message usually appears when you connect the iPod or other devices to the USB root hub, in the front of the CPU. A solution would be to connect it to the actual USB port at the back of the CPU.

I tried connecting it to all 4 ports on her PC, and all 3 on mine. Both the front and the back.

mines doing the same thing, and it seems to be charging correctly now, but it still wotn sync
