Will DVD STUDIO PRO dvd's play on P.C.'s?

Will DVD STUDIO PRO created dvd's play on P.C.'s? If not how can I create projects that will play in DVD players on P.C.'s MAC's and in standard home DVD players?

The national computing department I deal with who manage the use of many hundreds of thousands of PC machines have never found computer disc drives to be a problem unless the drive has a fault.

as a great deal of software is delivered on DVD format it is important that DVD discs are able to be read correctly.

the only recurring problem I have encountered when users play discs back on a PC is when the machine launches windows media player by default.

As windows media player is not a DVD video player, the picture is usually corrupted, but the disc plays correctly if the dedicated software player such as Win DVD is used.

In my experience (not big productions) all PC playback problems were related with the DVD playback software, and more specifically with customers trying to use Windows Media Player as DVD player.

Have you personnaly saw one of those machines? I mean, have you "see" by yourself a computer that can play comercial pressed DVDs and not your DVD-R discs?

You can ask to a confident customre with such problems to install the free and crossplataform VLC Player to check if he can play your disc using this software.

An after all your authoring/burning workflow can affect your discs, i.e. are you using labels? What brand of media are you using? What burning speed
are you using? . . . and so, and so.

Hope that helps !

sorry, I must have confused things when I used the generic term software. My intended meaning was to say that any data on a DVD disc is software, and if that file can not be read and displayed properly all is wasted effort.

I actually completely agree with your earlier post, in fact my reply was to support your comments by saying the drive mechanism is hardly ever problematic, it is the 'media' player software that causes the hassle.
