Unable to download music, etc.

java.lang.Exception pops up instead. Anyone knows what this means?

First, try just quitting iTunes (you may want to restart your system) and try again.

If that doesn't fix the problem. click on your account name in the top right corner of the iTunes window. When a second window appears asking for your password, hit "logout" instead. Then click on the "login" in the top right corner again and type in your user name and password. Then try logging in again. If it still doesn't work, repeat the process two or three times and see if that will eventually clear the error (it did for other users who've had the same problem in the past).

Hope this helps.

I was trying to buy something after upgrading to iTunes 7.3.1 (3), and when it asked me for a password for my .Mac account, it returned in red letters:
"FieldName: null.java.lang.Exception"

Maybe this is a bug that apple needs to address.

But meanwhile, Dave, you advice worked. I did a shutdown, boot-up, opened iTunes, signed out, signed in, got the same error, signed out, signed in, and it let me through! Yaay!

So getting iTunes working for me is critical, since in a few weeks, Apple will be UPS'ing my new iPhone to me!

Thanks again, Dave! (and I hope the solution cures this problem).
