Thank you, Apple...

I'm a fairly demanding consumer and 20+ years of Apple ownership has taught me to demand the best and rail against mediocrity. I must admit that I had little interest in a new phone, but I'm an early adopter of all things Apple, and so I gave it a try.

I must admit that I am completely undone by this device. It has become my constant companion, able to serve up music, movies, television shows, conversations with friends and family, answers to all my questions (via Safari) and all with an elegant and overwhelmingly intuitive interface. The concept is flawless, and the execution, nearly so. There will be more apps, and minor glitches will be smoothed out, but we are looking at a leap forward in design that is without comparison in modern times.

To use the iPhone is a wholly indulgent experience. I know no less than a dozen people, none of whom where Apple owners before, who have purchased an iPhone and are just now experiencing the jaw-dropping design that Apple is capable of. Mr. Jobs is a savvy man...notice how much of the new release of OS X is iPhone-like. I expect Mac sales, finally (and deservedly) to soar.

But for my new companion, all I can say to Apple is, humbly, thank you.

James, You are so right.... I can't imagine going back to a regular cell now. I want to thank all of you (us) for the positive reviews. I was about to stop reading the forum due to some silly complaints( like no new ringtone) to just idiotic whining from people who should have known what the device's capabilities (and limitations) were since last January.
I love my phone...absolutely stunning. Thanks apple.

I love my iPhone ... I've had a many cell phones and can say this is even better than my blackberry which I really really liked. It synched with my outlook with no problem and even the calender is updated. Email is great! Only things I really would like is a copy/paste function, multiple text recipients, and MMS. I've read these glitches will be fixed ... my friends are all sold!

I am also a long time Mac user of 20+ years and couldn't agree more. I'll repeat it: "Thank you, Apple". The iPhone performs as promised and then some. The fun will also continue as the updates and fixes start to happen, and they will.

For all of you considering joining the fun, do your homework and make sure it will function to meet your needs. It sure has for me and I do not regret being a guinea pig and part of the early process.

I bought my iPhone the day before going on a cruise with my wife. All morning on the train to NYC people were congratulating and I was demoing it to folks each time I took it out of my pocket. She started calling it my "iWife"!:) Then I let her go on the web with it for 10 minutes and she started smiling and she looked at me and said "I want you to buy me one of these". Haha:) Also on the cruise up to Nova Scotia and New Brunswick, I had cell service all the way, even on the ship with Cellular at Sea. The calls were $2.49/min but the data was free!

This thing just keeps getting better and better with the widget apps too. And I read this forum on it all the time:)

When I first used a Lisa in 1984, I thought this company was worth considering a leader, when I got a Mac II I thought this company was worth avidly supporting, and when I bought my first Powerbook 165 I thought this company was truly capable of great things...I now see that I have be right all this time, thanks Apple Team!

I LOVE my iPhone. I'm not into cell phones at all. I've had 2 in my lifetime prior to the iPhone. When the iPhone was announced at MWSF I was extremely underwhelmed just because I didn't like the idea of Apple spending their time on a product line that I had no interest in. I didn't pay attention to the iPhone press prior to launch. I knew it was coming on 6/29, but that was about it. I didn't even go to the Apple Store to see it until a week after launch. Once I saw it in person, though, oh my God I had to have it. It has probably been the best electronics purchase I've ever made. It's with me constantly and even over a week later I find myself surfing the net on it for no particular reason just so I can use it.

Simply said, "I love my iPhone!"

I've tried several "smart phones" and talked to users of other ones. The iPhone looked promising and I waited in line (for only a short time) and bought one sight unseen. I thought I'd take a chance because it looked so promising. I've never regretted it. I love it and have had NO problems (so far).

On the non phone side, it's the first device I've
actually synced a contact manager too.

I'm with you on that point. My many previous Sanyos through SprintPCS were always a real pain to sync with contact info.

Being a long time Mac user with a very full Address Book in OS X, immediately after the first sync, I had for the first time all 100+ of my coworkers in my phone's Contact list (plus countless personal contacts from my life). All names, all numbers, all photos. Painless and lickety-split. Look them up, and touch to dial. Entirely elegant.

Ironically, if there was ever a time to bring back the old AT&T "reach out and touch someone" television ad campaign, this would be it. Chiat-Day, you can make out the check to me for the idea 😉

I was tempted to go the Blackberry route earlier in the year, but after the Macworld announcement, I decided to wait it out and not get myself further locked in to Sprint without checking out the iPhone. Very good decision for me personally.

Thank you, Apple...
