Thank you, Apple...

I'm a fairly demanding consumer and 20+ years of Apple ownership has taught me to demand the best and rail against mediocrity. I must admit that I had little interest in a new phone, but I'm an early adopter of all things Apple, and so I gave it a try.

I must admit that I am completely undone by this device. It has become my constant companion, able to serve up music, movies, television shows, conversations with friends and family, answers to all my questions (via Safari) and all with an elegant and overwhelmingly intuitive interface. The concept is flawless, and the execution, nearly so. There will be more apps, and minor glitches will be smoothed out, but we are looking at a leap forward in design that is without comparison in modern times.

To use the iPhone is a wholly indulgent experience. I know no less than a dozen people, none of whom where Apple owners before, who have purchased an iPhone and are just now experiencing the jaw-dropping design that Apple is capable of. Mr. Jobs is a savvy man...notice how much of the new release of OS X is iPhone-like. I expect Mac sales, finally (and deservedly) to soar.

But for my new companion, all I can say to Apple is, humbly, thank you.

i took one back because of volume issues, and decided to get another one because it's too slick not to use on a daily basis, after you use one, you won't want to go back to anything else!!!

My battery lasts all day long and into the night, with average use. I am very pleased with the batt life. I just bought an HTC mogul (sprint) and the batt lasted about 10 hrs with about 7 calls for the day that were all short calls.

Yes until you try and figure out why you can't search. Or why your pop3 emails keep disappearing from your inbox after you view it on your main computer. Or the fact that you don't have a to do list, or can't create a folder within mail so that you can at least save your emails and attachments. LIke a photo someone emails you. iPhone is nice, but for 600 bucks and being touted as years ahead of others, its not even close.

Yes, thank you Apple. I have posted before about my positive experience with the phone.
I had planned to get a smart phone and when I heard that Apple was coming out with a phone I put that plan on hold to wait for the iPhone. So I had been waiting in that line for 6 mos.
I have had people stop and ask if this is the new iPhone and I tell them it is "fabulous."
I never cared about having an iPod, but I find myself using the iPod in my phone. I loaded up and episode of 24 and watched it on the plane on my business trip.
I can now sync up my address book, calendar, music, photos. My digital life is full circle with my phone, desktop computer and home laptop synced together.
I have read the posts about the phone with the complaints about no picture messaging, no IM .... Whatever - it is a fabulous product, love it, love it, love it.
Of course, I love my Mac.
I was in a Best Buy or some other computer store and heard a clerk talking to a customer who said the Mac had been recommended to her. I couldn't restrain myself - I leaned in and said "I love my Mac." How many people say that about their PC.
Oh, and this morning I got a text message and there was a little arrow next to it. I wasn't sure what that was about. Then I realized - since the message included a phone number, my iPhone was very helpfully offering to either add that number to my contacts or to send a text message to it. So helpful, so thoughtful!
And so far AT&T has been fine too. I had to call because my voicemail was not working. The young lady deleted the feature and readded it and then got me on another phone so that she could call my cell number to verify the voice mail was working.
Today I called and changed my calling plan. Once again the rep was very helpful.
So count me another satisfied iPhone user.

Thank you, Apple...
