Obviously, Jack, you can't power the iPhone completely off or the none of the features would work. You can, however, use the Mute/Silent switch on the side of the iPhone, just above the Volume control switch to silence the phone completely.
It's called 'AIRPLANE MODE'. Just go to settings and select this option (Turn it on).
What this does is it turns off the cell phone, bluetooth, WiFi transmitters. Just leaving you with the iPod and "offline" features of the iPhone.
This was incorporated to be used in Airplanes.... and will be a perfect option for you.
And in case you were wondering.... your calls will go straight to voicemail. So when you turn Airplane mode OFF, your visual voicemails will pop up 😉
I guess the nice thing about the mute/silent switch is that he could just flip off it (so to speak lol) and walk/jog and then flip it back on without going into the settings. For what it's worth.
the mute silence button wont keep him from being disturbed. if a call comes in while music is playing, he will still be disturbed because the music will stop. airplane mode is your best option
No offense.... but why would you want to run with a $ 500-600 device?
I have several ipods for different places/reasons. A 20GB for the car (stay's there), my iphone (Daily use) and a tiny shuffle that I can drop and sweat on while running.
I just can't imagine running with an expensive and delicate iphone!
Johnny,
It must be nice to have a device for every faucet of your lifestyle, but for the rest of us, we can usually only afford one or two devices.
I personally only have an iPhone with no other MP3 player so wherever I go, it goes.
