fatal error

fatal error

In FCP 6, every time I export something using compressor and I choose my internal cluster to process, I get following error:

fatal exception = "Final Cut Pro generated an error or unexpectedly quit User aborted Media Server"

I even formatted and reinstalled my system, did all the updates... no success.

I use fcp studio 2 on a Mac Pro octocore

have you reviewed any errors in the QMASTER error logs?

use /utilities/console.app to review.

There are severeal logs in there.

POst items of interest from these logs and we can all help you resolve it. 😉

PS. when in FCP I do 'export quicktime movie' and I open this movie in compressor and submit it using the virtual cluster, it works !!!

Only when in FCP I do 'export using compressor' and submit the job, it gives me the fatal error, and FCP becomes non responsive and in the batch monitor this job keeps processing for ever...

Im getting the same problem, I went to the console, and saw this

2007-07-18 22:30:53.341 Apple Qadministrator[482] * -[NSCFBoolean length]: selector not recognized [self = 0xa07bb95c]

repeated dozens of time before it finally timed out. I have no clue what it means, Im hoping someone out there does. Thanks!

I contacted Apple support and they said they know about this problem and are working on a solution,... but the latest pro application support update didn't solve it ... I hope they find it soon !

Hi,

I'm actually having the same issue as well. If I export directly from FCS 2 to compressor it seems to get hanging (and so does FCP). There is nothing I can do except Force Quit it.

Today I took the chance: did a clean install of Leopard, FCP studio, did all the updates, installed the new AJA driver, hoping it would be possible now to compress a sequence straight from FCP, ...
No, still the same problem...

Anyone out there with the same problem?

I'm joining the club. No solution in sight after a clean install. Always the same problem:

"Final Cut Pro generated an error or unexpectedly quitUser aborted Media Server"

I hope someone finds a solution to this soon.

Does it only affect Leopard users, BTW?

I just installed Leopard update 10.5.2, but the problem is still there...
Actually all the bugs are still there:
- export using compressor from FCP : Final cut pro generated an error!
- option Digital Cinema desktop preview disapeared.
- Keyboard layout disapeares.

If you have the same problems as I do, maybe we can compare hardware to see what we have in common that could be causing this problem.

I also have this problem using 10.5.2.

The workaround is to export as QuickTime and then use Compressor to get to your target, but that's a PITA.

Same problem here, except I can export from Final Cut to export to Compressor as long as I submit it to This Computer, if exported to the clusters is generates errors. Submitting a self contained movie to Compressor (or droplet) allows me to use the cluster. OS - 10.5.2
