Adult Content Filter

I have been searching for a content filter for my iPhone, but I have not found one. Does anyone have a suggestion how to keep adult content off the phone (and I'm talking about whether wi-fi or edge connected).

Thanks,
Blake

LOL....that made me chuckle this afternoon!!!

We need an iPhone Relationship thread -- we had a guy a few weeks ago state that he went on a date with his iPhone and his date walked out of him saying "he was more interested in his iPhone than her"

I have to admit - I have plenty of dates where my iPhone IS more interesting than them...and I kinda like the adult content on mine (wink)

Blake,

You might want to investigate using a proxy server. they work very well for blocking network users form **** and other un-Godly content. It should work while connected to wifi. but you will have to add this option to each wireless connection. I'm not sure about EDGE.

Settings > Wi-FI > choose a Network > HTTP Proxy

This will take both faith and discipline on your part because the lack of an admin account on the iPhone. Good luck and most of all God Bless!

Would it be wrong for me to state the obvious that if your addiction is that bad then you probably need to seek therapy, not a proxy. Given the fact that you set up the barrier, you know how to take it down just as easy. Would sorta be like someone on a diet buying candy and a candy jar to put it in and thinking the lid on the jar will deter them from eating it if it's shaped like a cow. Seems to be a vailed attempt at an excuse. You're an adult, seek help with the core issue or grow up and show some restraint.

Sorry just my 2 cents, not too much into self loathing.

Regards, and truly best of luck.

Thanks for all the replies and words of encouragement. To answer a few of your questions, yes I've been in counciling for 18 months now and things are going well. If feels great to not be trapped in that daily struggle alone. I've been surrounded by a band of brothers and we encourage one another to stay transparent about our struggles.

And yes, up to this point, i've avoided phones with internet content and all my computers have Bsafeonline for filtering. And I had one of my brothers in God set it up and set all the passwords, so I have no access to disable the filter.

The filter is something I have chosen not only for myself, but also to show my wife my commitment to keep away from adult content online.

Thanks again for the ideas and especially support. If there are any of you who struggle and need someone to atleast tell, I would be more than happy to talk with you. I've been through or seen much of the support material out there and have found some great resources.

Love Wins!!!

Came across this looking for content filtering for our home network. Found our 11 year old child looking at inappropriate material on the yahoo search engine.

Wanted to give you a word of encouragement from a brother in Christ and affirm the wisdom of protecting your own eyes from temptation. A wise man does not allow evil close to his home.

By the way - I had my child's iMac configured with parental controls and he was not supposed to be able to surf other that the sites I had allowed him. however he found some way via the dashboard to get around it.

I bought and have struggled with the D-link Securespot DSD-150 but it has been a disaster. The device wouldn't even pull up on Safari or Firefox - had to use a windows laptop to access it. Settings and menus in the control software do not display fully and although I only have 3 computers and it's licensed for 4 it keeps telling me I have exceeded the number of licenses and shuts down the system. In short, it's junk and I'm sending it back. Maybe it works better for PCs, I don't know, but for Mac it's horrible.

I really want a hardware box for my network but I can't find one other than this d-link box that is less than $2000. So I'm trying to find a stable Mac-centric solution.

Anyway, again good for you and for your vigilance to be faithful. I'm struggling to find a way to protect my family from the growing problems of *********** on the net. Sometimes I think the Amish have it right....
