Problems burning playlist to cd

Yesterday I wasted 3 cds trying to burn a playlist in iTunes 7.3.1. The thing went like this: everything goes fine, until iTunes states it is finishing the disc, which takes longer than usual. Then it just stops whithout any message of cd successfully burned, and without ejecting the cd. When I manually eject the cd and insert it again, Vista will see it as a blank cd (which of course, it's not).
Last time I successfully burned a cd was using iTunes 7.2.

Thanks in advance for your help

I ran into this exact same problem just last night! I probably trashed about seven CDs trying to troubleshoot what has never been a problem previously. What could possibly have changed to cause such a situation? I have run no iTunes upgrades or installed anything lately for that matter. Please share any advice or suggestions. Not being able to directly contact Apple support is so frustrating.

Yes, I forgot to mention that the first couple of wasted CDs triggered a prompt window suggesting lowering the burn speed. By default it must have been set on maximum. I tried different speeds including 12x. I have since read, elsewhere, to try a different CD media. This might help as I just opened a new batch of CDs last night (not sure what the brand is at this time). I will test this out tonight when I return home.

I also had a problem. I got a message saying the device "failed to calibrate the laser power level for this media". I bought a different brand of CD (Sony) and it worked! The CDs that didn't work ( and this included iphoto) was TDK that I purchased in quantity (a tower of 100) at Costco. TDK in a different packaging worked fine in the past.

Still can't succesfully burn an audio CD with iTunes version 7.3.2. It look like iTunes can't finish the cd. Here's the diagnostics:

Microsoft Windows Vista Home Edition (Build 6000)
ASUSTeK Computer Inc. F3JP
iTunes 7.3.2.6
CD Driver 2.0.6.1
CD Driver DLL 2.0.6.2
LowerFilters: PxHelp20 (2.0.0.0),
UpperFilters: GEARAspiWDM (2.0.6.1),

Some computers need an update to the ATA or IDE bus driver, or Intel chipset. If iTunes has problems recognizing CDs or hanging or crashing while importing or burning CDs, check the support site for the manufacturer of your computer or motherboard.
