My iPhone deletes my yahoo email on its own! (Disappearing emails)

I use push email with 3 different yahoo accounts. Since buying the phone, it will occasionally just delete email off the yahoo server without any input from me. The emails are just gone - not in the deleted emails folder, trash or anywhere. I replaced the phone, and the problem continues with 2 separate yahoo mail accounts. Not all emails are deleted, just random ones, such that over the course of a week I've probably lost 5-10 emails. All my settings are set to never delete email.

I have a few examples of deleted emails, as I also occasionally download emails into Mail on my PowerBook (set to leave email on the server, which works normally). I've been doing this for years with a Blackberry and have never lost an email.

Apple says it's yahoo's fault, and I haven't yet heard back from yahoo.

Help!

There is no official disclaimer. But, the iPhone is a v1.0 device, and it is not unexpected for there to be some problems. The Yahoo business mail services (POP) are very reliable. I was referring to the Yahoo IMAP services, which are exclusively for use with the iPhone, and are new(Yahoo didnt do IMAP before the iPhone). I would never recommend ANY new service for a business critical application until it has been proven - especially when there are so many other proven alternatives.

Same exact problem, but my email provider is .mac, and all my emails are addressed to this .mac account, no third party involved -

I thought I was going crazy. I am a very organized email person, but kept loosing things, no where, no where did certian very important emails exist that were there the day before.

I went to Entourage from my home computer as someone suggested, the missing emails were there, thank God! These were important appointments to get to!

So, how do I use an iPhone that forces the Mac Mail program, when Mac Mail is unreliable? This is no longer a cute and fun phone, and I just sold my Treo yesterday, ****.

My Yahoo! mails were disappearing also, so I stopped using Y! mail on the iPhone altogether.

I did configure a new Y! mail account, added it to the iPhone, then ran an hourly cron job to send myself mail. This ran for the better part of two weeks without losing a single mail, and with 95% of the mails arriving within seconds of being sent. But the new account had no folders, nothing sent, and was never accessed via the Web or from a POP client.

I am a Y! Mail Plus customer, and when issues arose I found Customer Support to be content-free and completely ineffectual.

Apple, I know you likely made a deal with Yahoo! but we would all appreciate it if you could start supporting push-IMAP on .Mac mail ASAP.

I had the same problem, however I read that the iphone has a limit of emails that it shows and once that limit is reached, it starts deleting them. I used to have the settings to only show 50 emails, and sure enough I lost a lot. I changed the settings to show 200 recent messages and also I make sure every night I distribute my inbox to my folders (from my computer) and avoid the deleting problem. I do hate that iphone gets paired with yahoo. I think it is a glitch

same problem here - same run around with apple/yahoo. complete BS. i think i have a solution/workaround - though not completely ideal. yahoo mobile. m.yahoo.com through safari -- it avoids adding the email account to the iphone, so you can't email directly from the contacts list (you do it through the address book on yahoo mobile), and there is a bit less functionality than the mail program, but at least it is relatively fast and doesn't erase my messages.

I tried the solution of increasing the number of stored messages, to no avail. I also tried switching from the new Yahoo mail interface to the traditional one. No luck.

Is there a way to contact Apple customer service by e-mail? I can't find anything on the website.

I got a response from Yahoo last night that was beyond insulting. In my e-mail, I provided a link to this discussion thread and asked them to answer my question specifically, without providing a form response. Of course, what did I get? A form response. Here's the irony: It got deleted before I had a chance to respond!

So, I just spent 40 minutes on the phone last night trying to return an item to Apple getting bounced from one "it's not my job" persone to another. Finally I get the return confirmed and an email sent to my yahoo account with a FedEx label. I didn't even view the message before I went to sleep for the night but I saw it in the list of new emails in my iPhone inbox. I wake up the next morning and poof email disappeared. People are aware of messages that they have received and have dissappeared. How many messages are people unaware that they have lost? Sucky.

This is happening to me as well, nice to know I'm not crazy. Aside from some automatic rules I never move anything between folders in my Yahoo mail account like other posters on this thread. I haven't lost anything earth shattering, but still I'm not checking my Yahoo mail on the iPhone until this is fixed. Too bad, it's a nice feature.
