Iphone Metal Case to Bezel Alignment issues! Anyone else?

I just opened my iphone and everything is perfect except that the chrome bezel hangs over the metal case back on the left side of the phone by a fraction of a hair. Its not noticable looking at it. The only way I know it is as my hand rubs across it while I'm holding the phone and I feel the sharp edge of the chrome bezel poking into my hand.

I would like to know if this is common on iPhones? I have not noticed it on several other iphones. Only this one.

1. Could any owneres of the iPhone tell me how their iphones pieces line up on assembly of their iPhones?

I would like to know how many other iPhones are like mine to see if I try to swap this phone if I would possibly recieve another.

The alignment is not noticable unless you feel it with your hand.
Am I being too picky?
Are others living with this issue without complaining?

Yes, mine is not aligned to an atomic level and there is a slight edge. The LCD glass is also a few microns below the chrome bezel in the upper left corner. I could probably find more flaws using a jewelers loupe to inspect at 15x magnification.

I'm sure you could get a perfect one, but it may cost $5K and would not be produced on a production line using standard parts and processes.

Thanks for the input everyone! I went to the Apple store today and 8 of 10 phones on display had bezel to case misalignment. 2 of them were perfect. I talked to a Genius and he said they could not do anything about it. Gotta live with it I guess. I noticed that all the phones had deep gouge marks in the back of the black plastic where it fits in the dock. This is why I only use the sync cable and no dock.

I just got a replacement iPhone and there is a sharp edge on the left hand side also. The right hand side has the metal cover sticking out past the chrome bezel. Its pretty aggravating since I just bought the phone less then 2 weeks ago with so many problems. My fingers actually catch the edge and shave skin off, so there is debris build up under the edge. Going to go back to Apple and see what they can do, running my finger on it feels like a blade of a cold knife in the morning.

I think the gouge marks are caused by the phones being on display. Customers are really really really rough with display models and often cram them into the docks when they're done playing with the produce, not to mention little kids.

I've been using the dock for the last week and I haven't had any problems. There are no micro scratches on the back or anything. Pretty cool.

I have the same problem. In addition I have the issue where the black bezel has begun to protrude out from the metal bezel causing two slightly sharp corners to poke out at the bottom of the phone. QA on the phone is almost as good as the software. At any rate I'd take patches and fixes anyday over these physical abnormalities.
