Adding chapters/bookmarks to audiobooks

Try this program if it's mp3--(it's freeware program called Xmp3split)

It will allow you to split the file into smaller pieces/tracks. You can then use this program to join them back together giving them chapter marks (it's a $10 shareware program called iTunesJoin):

I'm sure that someone else probably knows of a much simpler way of doing this, but this would be one possibility.

I have maybe 60 scripts for iTunes, I use at least 10 of them a day. Every now and then I do donate to the site, something to consider if you are a happy camper post-Doug.

I use "Make Bookmarkable" but since the last two updates of iTunes I have not been able to bookmark my audiobooks, when I listen to them in my iPod and I want to stop and resume listening the audiobook goes back to the beginning, the "remember playback position is gray under options. Any suggestions?

Have you checked Doug's site for an updated script? I remember reading that it had been updated, but I'm not sure if the version you have would be the old one or the new one.

I have the latest version of Bookmarkable, 2.1, it was updated last in Sept. 06. One thing I don't understand is why when I look on Options, under the Info. window the "remember position" option is grey. This is the same for all audiobooks, the ones downloaded from Audible.com as well as the ones I copy from CDs.

There is definitely an issue re: bookmarking in the two last versions of iTunes.
