MBP and clear nail polish

sounds like a mistake to me, I'd not use anything on it, but that's just me.

I STRONGLY recommend that you don't use nail polish to "seal" a sticker on your MBP. If you absolutely have to seal it then use some clear packing tape and cover the sticker. Whatever you do, do not use nail polish.

Agreed. Even something like that Invisible Shield film which can be removed without residue would make a better option than Nail Polish. Nail polish is an acetone which can melt plastic. I don't know what effect it would have on your sticker let alone anything else. I would not want to experiment with the long term effects on my machine 🙂

If nail polish does in fact seal stickers well in general and you like its finish then I can't see any reason not to use it on your MBP.

However, there's always a risk of the polish's chemicals interacting poorly with your MBPs finish and potentially its heat. So to safeguard against these I would maybe try a really small spot on the bottom of your MBP and see how it goes after a week or so. If it turns out your MBP doesn't like polish then you've only ruined a small spot on the bottom.

For that matter, the sticker itself could do damage to the paintwork underneath, which I guess is fine as long as you're never planning to sell it.

This sort of response is amusing. If he wants to use nail polish then use nail polish. It is not battery acid or flaming gasoline. It's nail polish. No more ornery than the glue on the stickers probably. I understand people actually paint it directly on parts of their body and live.
