iPhone charger + Shuffle OK?

I have an iPod Shuffle that needs a USB connection for charging. Can I safely use the iPhone charger for it?

G5, Mac OS X (10.4.10)

The shuffle uses a totally different kind of charger. Ipod chargers will work with the iPhone, but I think the shuffle uses an 1/8" plug, which will not work.

If you mean the brick that came with the iPhone and the cable/cradle for the current Shuffle generation (I'm not sure about the original pack of gum shaped one), then the answer is yes. I charge my Shuffle with my iPhone brick.

The iPhone brick is the generic USB brick that Apple uses for several products.

I mean the little 1" square AC charger for the iPhone. Our Shuffle is the pack-of-gum-shaped one that charges only through its male USB connector. It would be nice to be able to use the iPhone charger when away from a computer.

Sounds like it will charge the Shuffle without damaging it.
