Wireless keyboard stopped working, flashing green light (not batt. related)

My wireless keyboard has not given me a single problem until today. When I turned my computer (intel iMac) on this morning I also turned on the keyboard as I usually do. Rather than the steady green light I usually get, I now have a flashing green light that eventually turns off after a minute or so. I've changed the batteries to brand new batteries. I've even tried using new packs of different brands of batteries. Nothing works.

The computer no longer sees the keyboard.

Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Same problem...all of a sudden this past weekend. Both the BT keyboard and mouse have worked flawlessly for 15 months. They get a LOT of use (5 in the family) and a lot of power on/power off cycles trying to extend battery life.

What I've noticed???

Flashing light is actually the "discoverable" piece of the keyboard when powering on. I think there is a timeout on it. I'm typing on it now, and the green light is NOT on.

I can pair after several attempts and toggles of the power switch (maybe 10 or so attempts). I also noticed that my BT wireless mouse becomes strangely slow in response while the wireless keyboard is trying to complete the pairing. This would leave me to believe that it IS a software issue related to BT or OSX.

Also, once I get it paired, so far, as long as I don't turn the keyboard off, the pairing remains and the keyboard works. But when I turn the keyboard off, or if/when I restart the Mini (like after an update), then this process starts all over.

It's not the end of the world, but I am now looking at a new "wired" keyboard (I think) soon.

It would seem this is the "solution" apple has provided. I have to say I'm disappointed in the lack of response from apple on something that appears to have become an issue for so many people. The amount of times this thread has been viewed in a month makes me believe many other people are having the same problems, but not posting about it.

The timing of the whole thing always seemed a bit strange to me. Alot of apple keyboards across the world just suddenly stop working right when apple releases a new keyboard. Odd.

Like you and a few others, I too bought a new keyboard. It is not like we really have any other options at this point.

Hi, I had the exact same problem, and I found to fix it.

I think this issue will be caused by an electric loose connection of AA batteries and wireless keyboard.
The design of power supply unit is very poor due to focus on slim and cool design.

Please try to pack the metal that conducts electricity between the last AA battery and lid of
the keyboard.
I placed the spring of the metal, and then this issue was fixed.

I hope this issue is fixed in your environment.

P.S
I think the problem that the keyboard connection is often lost and the problem that mouse tracking
is very slow at the time are different.
A latter problem is easy to fix.
Could you please turn off airport (802.11b/g). I think this issue will be the software problem of Mac OSX.
