Creating a Personal Domain with CName?

I went out and bought a domain name through ipowerweb.com and went to my .Mac site to set it up but it only works by setting the CNAME alias to web.mac.com. I opened up my opensrs.net control panel and no such thing exists, only name servers. Is there another way to do it? Or did I just waste my money on a domain name?

Thank you! It worked! The guy with whom I spoke at GoDaddy didn't direct me correctly, hence I kept getting a "parked at..." page.

The only thing I'm wondering is that I had to delete two records from GoDaddy's already-created "www" CNAME. But, now I'll just create that site in iWeb, since I really haven't made that site yet, anyway, and I think it'll work.

Thank you so much!

James,

Just realize that if you do this and your email is tied into your domain (you@yourdomain.com) your email will be bounced. I know I tried this solution of creating another www record and it bounced all my email too. It worked to just type in mydomain.com, no www., but by fwding the domain like that it loses all your domain based email too. At least that is how it works with GoDaddy.

But if you don't have your email tied up with your domain - it works and is a great solution.

I just tell everyone to type www now. I didn't like losing all my email by surprise.

Best, C
