New iMac keyboard features don't work

are your media keys working ? (play/pause, etc)

where you using a 3rd party keyboard before ?, if so try uninstalling the drivers for it, as it maybe conflicting with the new apple keyboard drivers.

oh and for the record setting the expose & dashboard keys in system prefs does have anything to do with the dashboard & expose keys on the new keyboard, that why when you set them to F3 & F4 you have he use the Fn key as well.

Yep; Brightness Up/Down, Skip Back, Play/Pause, Skip Forward, Mute, Volume Down and Volume all work, it's just Exposé and Dashboard that don't.

Yeah, I know those settings have nothing to do with the software keys, it's just that at the moment that's the closest I can get to having the keyboard work as advertised...

My last keyboard was an Apple bluetooth model which came with the iMac.

this is messed up! true, it looks better and types better than my last wireless board, but at least on that one everything worked in it!

i've tryed everything ppl have posted in this room to get it working, but nothing works! in in the UK, but i really dont see how the boards should differ on the software side of things for thows paticular buttons?

let me join this group.....same thing about those dedicated keys not working. and at the reboot after installing the software, the "?" icon came up for a few seconds before the apple did....never had that happen before. called apple tech support and spent about 2 hours trying different things at two different levels. one suggestion (which I nixed) was to reinstall the os. REINSTALL THE OS FOR A NEW KEYBOARD?????? In any event, they sent me a program to copy my log files and I sent it back to them. It was going to be sent to engineering and hopefully they'll get back to me sometime next week. It takes a bit getting used to but i'm gettingto like the feel. REINSTALL THE OS FOR A NEW KEYBOARD??????? 😉

i found something out...

i did the software update 1.1, and then did the restart. i then looked in the "software update" tab in system prefereneces at my installed updates... and low and beholed, "Apple Keyboard Software Update 1.1" wasen't there! i've tried this more than 2 or 3 times now and i keep getting the same thing happening!

Did you install the keybaord update through Software Update ? If not, then it won't show up in System Preferences. I instaled iTunes 7.3.2 from a .dmg from Apple.com, and surely, iTunes 7.3.1 (which I installed via Software Update) is listed, but not iTunes 7.3.2 …

i did do it from the .dmg! so i see what your saying! but shouldn't the update appear if you do a Software Update? you sould plug the board in, your mac detects it, and they should of made it so the Software Update makes the keyboard work!

do you know where i could get a full list of everything that was installed or updated on my comp?

I have got this exact same problem, bought my keyboard from the UK Apple site. Was this resolved in the end?

Hi, did you Repair Permissions before & after installation of updates?
I would RP" re install/download updates->then RP's again & then re-boot..L

I will try repairing permissions, but I would be very surprised if it makes any difference. I've always heard it's a bit of an old wives' cure.

Same problem here (exposé and dashboard keys don't work, the other dedicated keys do work) with my new Dutch keyboard attached to my Intel Mac mini. Attabched to my MacBook Pro these keys do function.

i connected my new keyboard to my Mac Pro, installed the keyboard software update, restarted the system and everything is working flawless. German keyboard and german MacOS 10
