New keyboard

I'm really not trying to be a jerk here, but isn't the shift key better suited for such things?

It is, but I like pressing caps lock better, than holding and going over to what ever other key I want.
And even if I did use the shift button, my caps lock STILL wouldn't be working properly. I cant create a solution by ignoring or not solving the problem. And ur not being a jerk lol

Same problem here. Special keys for Dashboard and Expose do not work. All other special keys working fine.

Recognized another problem with the new keyboard. Startup-key "Command-Option-P-R" to reset the PRAM do not work. No problem with "old" keyboard.

Running OS X 10.4.10 on an iMac Intel Core Duo. Keyboard update 1.1 is/was installed.

Go to
System Preferences -> Keyboard & Mouse -> Keyboard

Make sure you uncheck the checkbox here.

This should set the new keyboard to work as expected.

Sorry to hear that it's not only my keyboard that has a glitching caps lock. This is a really bad problem for me because I use caps as space. Space not working reliably is really painful!

I will take a look later and see if there is something that can be done on a driver level, but that would be Windows only.

I did the download and it working but like so many I do not have the Dashboard and Expose` keys. I did in System Pref set F5&6 to do that function. Why they do not work I do not know I tried everything to make it work. I guess it is only the new iMac that those two keys will work on.

So anyone tried the new keyboard on windows? I might get one soon but not sure if they work perfectly in bootcamp

Anyone got anywhere with this? this is really annoying just got my new keyboard and everything works except f3 and f4.......you can't even assign them in system preferences!

OK, I've got good news and bad news.

The good news is I've got all keys working on my new keyboard including F3 & F4 after not having them initially work when i plugged in my new keyboard.

The bad news is that it took an Archive and Install to get there!

I had reason to do an A&I anyway and after applying all updates, including the keyboard update, and turning off the checkbox in the Keyboard Systems Pref, I have a fully functional keyboard.

For what its worth. I have an older iMac (2006 vintage) and ordered one of the new keyboards after seeing it in an ad. My original keyboard was getting worn out so it was time for a replacement. I've read you either love these new keyboards or hate them. After the first couple of minutes I really like these new keyboards and think they will hold up a bit better than the original design. The keyboard update software is the key to getting it to work properly.

I would recommend these new keyboards if you're looking for a replacement. The aluminum finish looks great and the feel of the keyboard is perfect for me.

Has everyone double checked their Keyboard preferences?

The lower box was 'unchecked' by default on mine and my F3 and F4 keys work properly.
