Batch encrypt pdf files

Hello All,

I am new with automator and need help in processing my pdf files.

My question is, are you able to make the encrypt pdf files action under automator work? I tried to create a workflow to do the following :
1. Select finder items
2. Encrypt pdf files

After running this workflow, nothing happens to my pdf files. Can you please advise how to make this work?

Thanks!

Well, I can at least confirm the same thing happens for me, too. The PDF documents are not encrypted even though Automator shows there were no problems with the actions.

I've tried two workflows, with the first workflow being:

1. "Get Selected Finder Items" - I selected a PDF document on the desktop
2. "Encrypt PDF Document" - I entered a password, verified it, and the action confirmed the verification.

After running the workflow, I opened the PDF by double-clicking it. Preview didn't ask for a password, and the info for the PDF in Preview indicated it had no encryption.

I modified the workflow by removing the first action and then dragging and dropping the file into Automator before the second action. Automator created a new action named "Get Specified Finder Items" with the PDF file as the only item listed. I ran the workflow and got the same results as the first workflow: Automator said it worked, Preview said there was no encryption.

This is definitely not working the way we are expecting it to work.
