I'd like to return iLife 08 ASAP to the store

I bought this software at the Apple store this weekend being told it would do everything that iMovie HD did but had more bells and whistles on it. After discovering this was a stripped down version, I fortunately found my other version of iMovie HD and dragged he icon into tool bar. I feel ripped off and as a recent Apple from PC convert, I'm still not totally sold on Apple products. I'm hoping they'll take this software back and can uninstall the entire iLife 08 software.

_+That it what you get for not doing research._+
+_Do you always buy something before doing research?_+
+_You have nobody to blame but yourself._+

+_Its funny you take the time to complain here. But don't take the time to read what other users have said about iMovie 8._+

+_So go ahead and be mad at Apple._+
+_Judging by your post, you probably don't ealuate Windows based products either._+

That ain't gonna fly here, man. I'm not sure what Apple's reasoning was, but we all know what a near worthless peice of junk this is.

any more attacks against an incredible amount of unhappy Mac users?

I agree with you. I bought iLife '08 just for iMovie '08 "assuming" it was an improvement (trusting Apple totally, feeling it unnecessary to check up on the product beforehand) on iMovie 6... I had bought some of the Slick editing products which don't seem to be working anymore... I am very disappointed...

Is there a way to retain iMovie 6 and remove iMovie 8?

There was absolutely nothing that pitched the depreciation of features and capabilities in iMovie 08. These changes were purposefully disguised to mislead the purchaser. In fact, I would think there may be a case for deceptive marketing practices as the user has no recourse in return of the opened software.

If wanted to use multiple applications to accomplish a single task, I would still be using a PC. iLife is pitched to be a single integrated soltution to multimedia tasks.

All folks are asking for is the effects and editing features that existed in iMovie 06 HD.

There has been no upgrade at all to iMovie but there is a new organizer application that has been ineptly named iMovie 08.

Apple need to provide some type of response as to where this is going as this deception is causing a great deal of angst.

First of all, send Apple your feedback; it may help. Second, you are not alone in your thoughts, but at least the full version of iMovie 06 HD can be downloaded (and is still in your Applications folder). I my opinion, this "new version" of iMovie (08), is not really iMovie, but iMovie Express. It is for a different purpose, and not really for "movie production".

This surprised many of us. We are also hopeful that Apple will listen to how many of us are upset with this "lesser edition" of iMovie (08), and enhance the full version (iMovie 06 HD).

The issue with the iMovie 08 against iMovie HD is, even though there are missing features from iMovie 08; there are also some great additions. Yes we can just use iMovie 06 for all those transitions, titles, effects that are missing from iMovie 08 however we then don't have the use of the great new skimming and editing features in iMovie 08 so Apple presents us with a double edged sword here. We have a new product with some great video editing features that we really want to use but at the same time we don't want to use the product becuse the older product is better in other ways; and then we use the older product wishing we had the new editing features from the new product!!! Quite a dilema!

Wrong. Apple has 2 videos (special presentation and Tour video) That go into the features of iLife. Listen to Jobs presentation as he details the new version of iLife Explaining that iMovie '08 is a NEW App. Even going through the website i found that out. I was very aware of what iMovie 08 entailed the day it was released.

The fact that you did not research properly when Apple was very clear about what you were getting is your fault. Plus you still Get iMovie HD for FREE.

I was excited about iMovie 08 because of the AVCHD support for those HD hard drive video cameras...now I am thinking twice. Any ideas when this codec will be implemented in Final Cut Express or as an upgrade to iMovie 06. Do I have to import with iMovie 08 and then covert to work in iMovie 06?

Seems to me that I would have to agree that this release is misleading and I am glad I did read the forum's...but my assumption would have been an improvement on the previous release with more stuff.

Feel bad for those who purchased mainly for iMovie 08 and were left with something quite different than expected.

I would assume that it would be implemented in to Final Cut express. I cannot say when and we really cannot speculate anyway. iMovie HD though? Forget about it. I doubt that there will be anytime further developed on that beyond important bug fixez

I'd like to return iLife 08 ASAP to the store
