USB Phono Plus V2

I purchased an ARTcessories USB Phono Plus V2 to transfer my record albums to my computer. But when I hook the device to the USB port it doe not show up on my desktop. How do I access this device?

20" iMac 2.1 Power PC G5, Mac OS X (10.4.10), 2 meg ram

It won't show on the desktop, but should show up in the "Input" pane of "Sound" system preference. You should be able to set the input level there, and see the input signal level. You need to run an application to do recording. The unit should have come with a CD containing Audacity, but there are many other applications that will record audio, such as Garage Band, QuickTime Pro, Sound Studio, Amadeus, Audio Hijack Pro.

Very helpful. Thanks.
I have recorded with Audacity (needed to add LAME to get mp3)
Wil now try using Garage Band and Sound Studio to see which one I like the best.
