FW-1884 and Logic

Hello,

I bought Logic Pro 7 recently and i connected it with my Tascam FW-1884.

It seems like the Tascam is not fully responsive.

I can record and the monitor mix works fine.

I can't open the control panel shortcut and my faders are not responding to automation.

Basically nothing works has it should.

Anybody have any suggestion to make?

Hello!
Is your FW-1884 set to 'Computer' mode? It sounds like it is set to 'Inputs'. If I'm wrong, I would check the FW-1884 Manager Preferences and check the protocol the FW-1884 is using. Also is the FW-1884 set up correctly in Logic? One last thing comes to my mind: I saw a downloadable patch on the Tascam Website for OS X 10.4.10. There were some problems with the FW-1884 after upgrading to 10.4.10. If non of this helps, please give me some details about your system and preferences and I can cross-check them with mine as my FW-1884 works fine.

Yes - i had Logic 8 working great with the fw1884 in native mode under Mac OS 10.4.10 and now that i have upgraded to Leopard it is bricked. The OS doesnt see the audio interface at all and when i try to launch the control panel from the control surface it doesnt come up. Same result with Ableton Live, Reason and Digital Perfomer. I have emailed Tascam and expect they have to release new drivers. When they respond i will post here.

Update - downloaded Tascam drivers v1.6.0 and ran its uninstall option, switched of the fw1884, rebooted and did a reinstall followed by another reboot and it is working now

I have now the joy of checking all my plugins one by one since i have had to reinstall so much stuff i suspect some dont work

Logic 8 and the fw1884 integrate beautifully and very fast however

I have just upgraded my Dual G5 2.3Ghz Power mac to leopard 10.5.2 and Logic Pro 8 and all the very latest updates including the pro kit updates etc..
I am using and FW1884 and FE8 and have been for some time now through most varying combinations of OS and Logic updates, never really had a problem I can think of, the hands on experience of the FW1884 has always been fantastic and Logic has been something I can't live without for a VERY long time (since just after seeing notator on the Atari ST).
Anyway It appears that after the latest update, I think possibly the pro-kit 4.5 update, I am now getting sporadic clicks and pops, digital noises very few and far between sometime but there non the less, as I type this on my macbook pro I am recording in a live show off a minidisc player and I am hearing a tiny pop or click between at least 20-30 sec intervals. Tried different minidiscs, cables, minidisc player, a reboot.
Anyone?

Also now and again Logic decides to inform me on shutdown that I must quit all rewire applications for shutting down Logic, even after removing all rewire related items from HD/library/application support.

Oh yeah and Logic has decided not to store fader positions of the FE-8 like Logic 7 used to, well infact Logic 7 used to store all the settings on the control surface side of things and when you closed one song to work on another the Tascam would reset all faders and then they would all pop back up again according to the song, with Logic 8 so far the faders dont move when you close a song and then on opening another it doesn't make any sense as to the fader positions it chooses to bring up, some will and others wont, although more often than not it will be mostly the FE-8 faders.

UAD1 working great with my stuff as is Waves SSL and Audio Ease Altiverb 6
the audio clicks and pops a serious issue though.
