Well, my apple remote went through the wash in my pocket. I know this isn't a high dollar item and I can just pick up another, but I am intrigued by it's behavior now. I let it dry out for a couple of days, and when I tried using it to start Front Row on my computers, it displays a black background with a picture of the remote with three comic-like Zs above it, as if it were sleeping.
This tells me that the computer is still getting an infrared signal, right? Anyone have any idea what's up with that?
Thanks

Does your Mac go to sleep? Usually, when you hold the "Menu" button down for five or six seconds, the Mac will display that image and then go to sleep. It might seem that the "Menu" button circuitry is suck in the "down" position. But, if your Mac isn't suddenly going to sleep, maybe the full signal is not being sent?
Thanks Doug
Yes, as a matter of fact...computers do go to sleep, and wake back up with a prolonged push on th emenu button. I have removed the battery and tray and put the remote in a really warm, dry place to see if it will dry out and return to normal. I wish I could take it apart further to help dry it out, but I can't figure out how. I have removed the interior screw that I thought may be holding it all together, but don't know how to go any further. Any ideas?

Sorry, I've never tried to take my remote apart. How long did you leave it dry the firs time? I'm not sure how long it would really take something like that to dry out completely. But, if it doesn't work right after another day or so, it might not be worth messing around with any more.
It lives! I left it in that hot room for a week or so and forgot about it. I had the battery tray out of it and left it lying on a piece of towel. Found it in there yesterday, put it back together and it works just fine. Living in such a dry climate has it's advantages sometimes.
