Is this LCD backlight leakage enough to warrant a return? What are my changes that I may get one worse or similar? Image taken with brightness set at minimum.
I am so glad to have come across this thread, as I have had the same problem. When I contacted Apple in December, they told me this was normal. Is it too late to have this refunded?
This certainly isnt normal. my iMac is 6 months old and no bright white spots, yellowish fades or dead pixels whatsoever. I guess I should be happy? Unfortunately, Im not because now Im afraid those bright white spots might introduce themselfs to me too :--\ They look horrofying, btw
I've had this problem with two iMacs - the first delivered in March was sent back the next day. The replacement came and had identical problem. The second one is now being looked at by an Apple certfied engineer. He is replacing the screen, but is not certain that will make any difference.
Does anybody know for certain what is causing the problem? Is it a back light leaking through between the screen and glass?
I've just had my 24"imac screen replaced because of a dead pixel and "light bleed" from the bottom two corners. The light bleed has now gone (so it's fixable) but i still have a dead pixel just i a different place and a spot of dirt between the screen and glass!
This is imac number 9! It has a even backlight and no left to right gradient! I'm really pleased i've managed to find a decent one after all the rubbish i've been through. Its a VM (czech Republic) unit on a week 14 build....no dust....no bleed....no dead pixels....wooohooo!
I think it must be a construction issue as the panels are just installed in the case during assembly....maybe something is nipped up too tight on some units?
