New Apple Keyboards and G5

I have just purchased one of the new auminium keyboards. The special features ie for Dashboard expose - sound etc. Apple support told me these new features only supported on the new iMacs. This is not stated in apple's marketing material for these keyboards. Is this the case or is it it bug or fix needed. Still a nice keyboard though

G5 2.3, Mac OS X (10.4.10), UK

1. connect the new keyboard
2. go to... http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/
3. download & install the "keyboard software update
1.2"

I bought a new aluminum face keyboard for my G5 on Monday. The top row of keys do not work. The keyboard software I downloaded did not help. An Apple rep said that is does not work with a G5 and that I should return it. Is this a universal problem?

Hi M Marcinik;

I don't know why you are having problems with the aluminum keyboard on G5. I have one on my PowerMac G5 Quad and it is working perfectly for me.

I think the Apple Rep is trying to blowing smoke up your skirt.

i just tried the keyboard software update 1.2 and it does not work either . I don't however have a G5 quad.

I downloaded the keyboard 1.2 software restarted and it did not work. Then I went to the keyboard and mouse section of system prefs and turned things off and on which some how got the top row keys to work like they were intended to...I think.

I have a G5 with dual 1.8 processors and running OS X 10.5.1 and the top row works perfectly. It definitely sounds like a software issue and not a hardware problem.

On the other hand, I am having USB prblems.
