Hello kjp2007 & Welcome to Discussions,

Well, it pretty much depends on who you ask as to what the best browser is for OS 9.1
There are a few and you have to decide which one best suits your needs.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say that Internet Explorer is a no no because, one, it's a memory hog and two Microsoft no longer provides support for it's Mac version.

There are a few other browsers you could look at, but again you are the best judge.

I'm using Mozilla (1.2.1) as my general browser and on the whole it still works pretty well, but for Yahoo and other sites where I play board games, I find iCab pretty darn good. iCab is, as far as I know, the only browser that still supports Classic, but nevertheless crashes, freezes, stalles almost all of the time when surfing the net. But great with Yahoo, Gamesquare and sites like that (I always use it with the images off though!)

I have tried literally every browser mentioned in this thread, & keep backup installers of most. I have found that Netscape 7.02 and iCab 3 work best for me, running os 9.2.2 on a G3/450 Yosemite. Also, I allocate a LOT of RAM, up to 200mb preferred. (I have all 4 slots filled, IE, 1gb RAM)
It also helps to tweak the Finder's RAM, I've found that 50mb - 80mb preferred keeps everything running more smoothly & crash-less-often.
You need to be handy with ResEdit in order to tweak the Finder, and of course ALWAYS work with a COPY.
