PowerPoint jpg images stretched - help!

OK folks, what am I doing wrong. I've done this a thousand times in FCS, now on FCP 5, I'm stuck.

I have about 60 jpg images exported from PowerPoint. I want to drop them in the viewer, then to the canvas to put them on the timeline. Speaker audio/video going in the back, slides fade in and out. All easy stuff.

Problem is, my jpg images get stretched and letterboxed. I've tried the "scale to sequence" trick when the image is on the timeline, no good. The jpgs are 960x720 as they sit on the disk but lose about 1/4 their height and grow wider when put on the viewer.

Help! and thanks!

You may be on to something...

I have tried hitting the reset button (litte red 'x') in Distort, no avail. But, if I get the clip (image) on the timeline, Ctrl-Click it, slect "Remove Attributes" and then check Distort, it looks as normal as a PPT jpg image can <grin>

So, I guess the question is, how to set this as the default for the viewer and everything?

Sorry for the ignorance, I only do this once in a very great while and this is my first time doing it in FCP.

Thanks!
