Wow, am I having problems with version 7.01. first, could not import a simple I movie hd project of less than five mins of movie. Second, crashed at least ten times will importing movie files from my hard drive. third, would crash while generating thumbnails and the final third of my clips were in gray, no thumbnail at all. This software sure seems to be very buggy to me! I am running this on a macbook, and just simple video clilps from my digital camera. I could not run a voiceover with any precision, and all I wanted to do was post a short clip up to my web gallery..
feed back appreciated.

ps. wonder if I would have better luck using a real minidv cam.
the problem i am having is that not only are there thousands of thumbnails, there are THOUSANDS of these .DV files. I don't know what to do but I am frustrated. After 5 successfull non-problematic imports, my final 2 are killing me!!!!
Seems like you have the answer to a problem I am having. I just want to make sure that I do the right thing and don't mess anything up (As I am new to this). I am wanting to erase the gray thumbnails as you suggest but I'm not quite understanding where the "thumbnails folder" is in the "event folder" that you reference. Can you help?
Here is a tip. You want to delete the thumbnails but not the events themselves (because you will lose your footage). So to make sure, just move the thumbnails out of the thumbnails folder to a different place (e.g. desktop, a folder labled temporary thumbnails, etc.)
This way, on the off chance that you picked the wrong thing to delete, you can recover. Once your thumbnails have been rebuilt, you can move your temporary files to trash.
To find your thumbnails, you need to know if your events are stored in an internal drive, or an external drive. You need to go there in the finder. An easy way to find the clip in the finder is to right-click on the file, and select "reveal in finder". Remember, you want to delete the thumbnails, not the clip. See tip above.
