Large Downloads- Can they be paused and resumed on a later date?

1) Open iTunes.

2) From the Store pull-down menu at the top, choose Check for Purchases.

3) Enter your account name and password, then click Check. Your purchases should begin downloading.

4) Under the STORE section on the left, click Downloads.

5) Click the Pause All button in the lower-right corner. This will temporarily pause all of your downloads.

6) To resume only one of the downloads, click the refresh button that appears to the right of one of the paused downloads.


That's what the iTunes team has to say on the matter.

OK, riddle me this:

- I buy a TV show, it starts to download
- It downloads about half the movie
- I have to shut down the computer, so I PAUSE the download, then quit iTunes
- Come back later, do the "Check for Purchases" thing
- The download starts again, automatically but FROM THE BEGINNING

So, is there somewhere or someway that iTunes can pick up where it left off? And if there is WHY CAN'T IT BE OBVIOUS. If there isn't then WHY NOT?? I've been able to do this with downloads, like forever.

And really, continuing a download is going to be something that will happen. why can Apple anticipate this? Shouldn't it show up in my "Purchased items" queue, but as an incomplete download? Then I can complete it from there?
