Supposedly, now you can configure ringtones with iTunes for your iPhone. I understand that, once you download a song, there is a bell icon to help you get started. The trouble I may have, is that I love Hawaiian music, and it says only certain songs will be able to be made into ringtones. How do you know, before you buy, that the song can be made into a ringtone?
I did notice that while browsing the iTunes music store, if you go up to 'View' and 'View Options', there is a 'Ringtone' option to be checked. It shows a new column when browsing for music, but it appears to be empty on every single song I looked at.
It's up and running. You can click on any song in your purchased list (even if there is no bell), then click on Store > Create Ringtone. If the song can be made into a ringtone, the ringtone maker will pop up in the bottom of iTunes, and you can edit, preview, and buy the ringtone. If it cannot be made into a ringtone, it will tell you.
I've tried to add a couple of ringtones but it will not load up the editor. I click on a song that has the bell on it. For about 2 seconds a window opens at the bottom of my itunes - looks like the editor - but then it closes again right away. I look in the ringtones tab and nothing is there. Help?
I sleect a song in Purchased playlist, right-click, "Create Ringtone".
I sign into the store to "buy", editor briefly appears then says
_ can NO LONGER be made into a ringtone"... ***????
Deauthorize your iTunes for store access. Restart your machine. Reauthorize your iTunes store account. There are some definite bugs things should be smoother in a few days.
So... I have many songs already purchased that have the Ringtones icon displayed. However, when I attempt to purchase the ringtone, and I am asked for my password, it is not recognized. I've used that account/password recently to purchase iTunes, so it's a valid password. I've even reset it. I can purchase tunes, but not ringtones. What's up widdat?
Has anyone been able to fix this problem yet. I am still having this problem. It appears to be creating a ringtone, then asks for my password, I enter it and nothing happens. It just continues to ask for my password. I have tried to deauthorize and then authorize, but didn't seem to work. Help!
I have the same problem. I can't even make a ring tone from music I have already purchased (and it has the ring tone icon next to it too)!? Keeps asking for my id and password endlessly. This truly does suck. I am losing patience with the Apple ringtones @ iTunes. I tried the e-mail support ...NOTHING! I give up on the iTunes / ring tones junk!
I have the same issue: I just can't create a ringtone using iTunes 7.5 at all! I just can't make the ringtone symbol appear: I can't select it from the viewing options (when music is selected), nor when I right-click on a purchased song nor when I de-authorize and authorize back my Mac.
This is really a pain in the a
* as there seems to be no bug fix from Apple available at all.
So the only way I can create ringtones, is to use a little detour (not using Garage band by the way) and in this way I can create a ring tone from nearly any of my songs but it is taking a few steps (and hence time) so using iTunes would be a lot nicer of course.
So..does anyone have a solution on how to make the ringtone symbol appear in iTunes 7.5?
