iPod Classic - Hiding Compilation Artists

OK, so I just upgraded my trusty old 60GB black iPod with an 80GB Classic.. on my older iPod I could go to 'Settings' > 'Compilations' and select on/off - with it on, when I went through my listing of artists it didn't show any of the obscure one off artists I had (as long as they were correctly identified in iTunes) - for some reason thats no longer an option on the Classic..

Or, if it is its not in the same spot and I haven't found it... Any one have any success? I have about 8GB of compilations set up and it makes my Artist list annoyingly long if every single one is listed there..

One other shortcoming of changing the "Sort Artist" field - it cleans up your Cover Flow, but - unless there's something I'm missing - it messes up the listing of artists in your "Artists" list. When I tried this, my cover flow looked appropriate (the album only appears once in Cover Flow, in the section where the "V" artists would be, although it still shows the track 1 artist as the artist) but in my "Artists" list, it went through the alphabet appropriately until the "V" section, and in the "V" section, every artist who I had associated "Various Artists" with as the "Artist Sort" appeared again before the alphabet moved on to the "W" artists. Sigh...

Being unable to hide compilation artists from your main artist list is so annoying. I waited 3 generations for apple to introduce this simple feature. And now for no apparent reason they've dropped it??!! So frustrating. They should create an offical bug schedule so we can at least know they've acknowledged the issue and are working to set it right??!!
